You need an Herbal Medicine Certification in the same way you need an iPhone. It’s not a requirement, but it sure makes the livin’ easy… (and helps you stay resourced and connected!)

So, while a certification is not required for engaging with plants, it’s an empowering experience to study and practice the art and skill of herbalism in community with people who share your passions, interests, and values.

The space-holders in this herbal medicine program consist of a diverse collection of voices in the realm of herbalism. They are educators, facilitators, readers, root workers, healers, palmists, artists, business people, social justice advisors, therapists, counselors, and creators. Each space-holder’s title, experience, race, gender, age, appearance, location, perspective, and ability varies from person to person. The two things they have in common are this: they perform their work with deep, sacred integrity and authenticity + they feel called to share their traditions and lineages in this container.

While live class is highly encouraged when possible, we are accommodating to time-zone differences and work schedules. We have students from all around the United States who join us for these certification programs by watching the live classes as video recordings and submitting class notes summaries after viewing.

Students can also utilize our 1:1 office hours with our Herbal Director for any questions that come up while reviewing the material or to receive interpersonal learning support.

The requirements for certification include completion of and passing grade for: monthly online quizzes, homework readings, research based midterm, and presentation based final project.

Additionally, either (1) 80% live class attendance or (2) 80% class notes summary for those unable to attend class live due to time-zone differences or work schedules.

Yes! We have need-based scholarships available. At this time our scholarships are self-generated, so we are able to offer 25% off to a handful of students in each certification program. We are dedicated to centering systemically marginalized communities here at Verse.

Supplies vary each year, but we always recommend sourcing them from all of our favorite and most trusted herbal growers, medicine makers, and tea and supplement companies.
